Using an ADAPT Approach to Integrate Google Translate into the Second Language Classroom

The increasing prevalence of students’ use Google Translate has been the catalyst for re-developing language classroom. Through progressive adaptations, integrated to help support meaningful learning, academic rigor and intellectual curiosity. Five key steps form foundation ADAPT approach: amending assignments, discussing Translate, assessing with in mind, practicing integrity, training students Translate. this approach, can be guided a more mindful that supports learning. This paper outlines ways which into beginning intermediate online Spanish courses. results small study investigated perceptions uses two fully first-semester courses used approach found diverse mix perceptions. Students who had neither excessive advantages nor disadvantages. author argues broader acceptance integration so instructors better manage their use, practices productive discussions take place between students.
